There’s no better way to enrich your daily commute, your early morning jog, or just running errands and completing chores than soaking in some knowledge from a podcast. They’re full of quotes, statistics, vocabulary words, and other interesting tidbits that you can drop at work, reference to friends, and use to help you understand the world. If you have the time and the resources—a phone—then you should be listening to as many podcasts as you can. Here are five podcasts you should be listening to.

Note to Self

In this podcast, Manoush Zomorodi challenges listeners to question everything they think they know about the tech world. Most people believe that technology is around to make us smarter, more efficient and happier, but it’s also pretty overwhelming and even frightening at times. Zomorodi looks at it from a human perspective, exploring how it affects our lives and how we can best use it without sacrificing autonomy and privacy. In the past, she’s investigated whether TVs are spying on us and whether all our jobs will one day be filled by robots.

Rocket

Hosted by Mashable senior tech correspondent and media specialist Christina Warren, game developer and tech feminist Brianna Wu, and family gaming and diversity writer Simone de Rochefort, Rocket is “accelerated geek conversation.” They cover everything from tech, comics, movies, games, and books. And there’s backlash and drama in the tech world right now—plenty for the hosts to break down and analyze. Mac OS is being updated, iOS 12 is coming, and companies are buying and being bought all the time.

The Big Web Show

Host Jeffrey Zeldman brings in expert guests to talk about things like information architecture, interaction design, web design, and Internet legislation. Each episode is about an hour long and they’re pretty open about the fact that it gets pretty geeky really fast. Depending on your perspective, that might be an endorsement or a warning.

This Week in Google

Hosted by Leo Laporte, Jeff Jarvis, Stacey Higginbotham, This Week in Google covers the latest news related to Google and cloud technology. They talk about news, gadgets, controversies, and Google’s competition. Episodes are packed with really critical information, but they can last up to two hours!

Clockwise

A round-table discussion with two hosts, Dan Moren and Mikah Sargent, and two relevant guests, each episode of Clockwise is held to under 30 minutes and covers four topics. Past episodes have discussed Windows 10, cord cutting, and online advertising. It’s a rapid-fire discussion on the most current issues facing the tech world!

Tech is a pretty big part of all of our lives, even if you don’t work in the industry, so it’s important to glean as much information as you can. And since it’s a fast-moving field, it’s even more of a challenge to stay ahead of the game. Podcasts are the perfect opportunity to do that.
