Location: Onsite at San Francisco, CA

Competitive Pay Rate: $30/hr – $32/hr

Position Overview:

  • As an Associate Scientist, you will play a crucial role in maintaining and operating advanced analytical systems, performing critical analyses, and supporting our research goals. Your expertise in mass spectrometry, chromatography, and calorimetry will be essential in generating high-quality data and driving scientific progress.


  • Maintain RPLC-MS System: Ensure optimal performance and availability of the open access RPLC-MS system for research activities.
  • Data Acquisition & Processing: Conduct routine RPLC-MS acquisition and data processing, generating accurate reports for research-critical reagents.
  • Chromatographic Analysis: Perform routine aSEC-MALS/QELS analysis to determine molecular size and weight of critical reagents.
  • N-terminal Sequencing: Execute N-terminal sequencing to confirm amino acid sequences of research-critical proteins.
  • Calorimetry Analysis: Conduct DSF and DSC analyses to assess thermal stability and conformational changes of critical reagents.
  • Technology Development: Engage in limited, directed efforts to develop new technologies and applications to support research goals.
  • Data Reporting: Generate and report data from various analytical techniques to support ongoing research.

Skills Required:

  • Degree in Biochemistry, Analytical Chemistry, or a related field.
  • Proven hands-on experience in the required technical skill areas.
  • Excellent communication skills for data reporting and cross-functional collaboration.
  • Strong analytical mindset and ability to troubleshoot and optimize protocols.
  • Reversed-phase protein mass spectrometry experience.
  • Reversed-phase peptide tandem-mass spectrometry experience.
  • aSEC, aCEX, aHIC chromatography experience.
  • DSF and DSC calorimetry experience.
  • SEC-MALS/QELS light scattering experience.
  • Method development and troubleshooting for analytical techniques.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
