Job Title: Materials Designer
Location: Beaverton, Oregon (Hybrid)
Job Summary: We are seeking a creative and highly collaborative individual to join our team, developing innovative material solutions for performance-driven footwear. Our team thrives on driving material design excellence by blending technical expertise, sustainable methods, and compelling storytelling to push the boundaries of outdoor product innovation.
Responsibilities:
- Lead the material design process for outdoor footwear, from concept to commercialization, focused on functionality, durability, and visual impact.
- Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams including designers, color and graphics teams, product developers, and engineers to bring innovative narratives and seasonal stories to life.
- Explore and integrate new material technologies and sustainable practices to elevate both performance and emotional connection with the consumer.
- Present design concepts confidently to diverse internal and external audiences and ensure alignment with the overarching mission.
Required:
- Bachelor’s degree in design, art, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- 3-5 years of relevant experience in material, textile, or footwear design, with a demonstrated ability to drive innovation and push design boundaries.
- Expertise in Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, InDesign, Photoshop) and hands-on experience in building samples and mockups.
- Solid knowledge of manufacturing processes and textiles, especially related to performance, sustainability, and technical material practices.
