Job Title: Billing Subject Matter Expert
Location: Syracuse, New York (On-site)
Job Summary: We are seeking an experienced professional to drive and optimize business processes within a critical transformation program focused on billing operations. Our team is dedicated to delivering operational excellence by ensuring business requirements are translated into effective, automated billing functions and controls.
Responsibilities:
- Design and implement workflows to ensure compliance with rules, obligations, controls, and service levels within billing operations.
- Optimize automated billing features, including commodity usage calculation, charge and tax calculation, service proration, adjustments, invoicing, and bill composition.
- Ensure seamless integration of invoicing, financial reconciliation, and dispute resolution processes supporting operational accuracy.
- Coordinate with business stakeholders and functional teams to deliver standardized business processes and minimize errors through effective exception handling.
Required:
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience in utility billing operations, rate calculations, invoicing, or revenue assurance, preferably within the utility industry.
- Proven track record of delivering functional products in medium to large-scale customer information system (CIS) projects.
- Strong understanding of utility billing methodologies, proration, adjustments, dispute resolution, exception handling, bill composition, bill production, and bill delivery.
- Hands-on configuration background with relevant CIS platforms, ensuring alignment with core business requirements.
