Job Title: Staff/Senior Substation Engineer
Location: Cary, North Carolina (On-site)
Job Summary: We are seeking an experienced professional to support major EPC substation projects and play a critical role in ensuring high-quality technical delivery. Our team values mentorship, technical skill development, and collaboration to ensure success in complex power infrastructure projects.
Responsibilities:
- Guide and mentor teams to ensure technical quality in the development of substation design packages, and represent technical work confidently to clients.
- Prepare and develop substation design documents, including physical arrangements, protective relaying and control, as well as electrical studies such as grounding, lightning analysis, and lighting/security.
- Support substation projects from conceptual planning through completion, adapting engineering plans according to budget, design factors, or client requirements.
- Conduct and review design calculations, perform quality reviews, participate in field inspections, and contribute to proposals and client presentations as needed.
Required:
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or a related degree from an ABET accredited program and a minimum of 3 years of substation engineering experience (consulting preferred); or a Bachelor’s degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering Technology from an ABET-accredited program with successful completion of the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam plus a minimum of 3 years of substation engineering experience (consulting preferred).
- Demonstrated experience in either physical design or protection and control (P&C).
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, attention to detail, and organizational skills.
- Proficient computer skills, particularly within Microsoft Office Suite, and a desire to work collaboratively in a team environment. EIT certification or PE licensure preferred.
