Job Title: Staff Engineer-Electrical
Location: Overland Park, Kansas (On-Site)
Job Summary: We are representing an opportunity for a Staff Engineer-Electrical focused on power system protection and relay settings. Our team is seeking a candidate who can support protective relay settings development, system modeling, and coordination across engineering activities for a range of office locations.
Responsibilities:
- Develop protective relay settings for transmission, distribution, and renewable collector substation applications.
- Support protection and control design activities, including one-lines, three-lines, schematics, and wiring documentation.
- Perform relay setting calculations and setting file development using applicable engineering tools and methods.
- Collaborate with team members and clients while contributing to project schedules, budgets, staffing, and proposal development.
Required:
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering from a recognized accredited program in the home country or the country of practice.
- Minimum of 5 years of related work experience, including 5-10 years of experience in the transmission industry.
- 5 years of experience in development of protective relay settings for line, transformer, breaker, and bus applications.
- Experience with protection and control design concepts, commonly utilized system modeling software, Mathcad, Excel, communication protocols, IEC 61850, and NERC-PRC standards.
- Ability to work independently, lead small projects, support proposal development, function in a QC/QA capacity, and train or develop early career professionals.
- PE license is preferred, but not required.
