Job Title: Facility Maintenance Specialist
Location: Cambridge, Massachusetts (On-Site)
Job Summary: We are presenting an opportunity for a Facility Maintenance Specialist supporting critical life sciences operations in a highly regulated environment. This position plays an important part in maintaining safe, reliable building systems and helping ensure minimal disruption to research activities.
Responsibilities:
- Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on facility systems, including HVAC, plumbing, electrical, fire/life safety, BAS, access control, and related infrastructure.
- Monitor critical environmental conditions and support daily building rounds, alarms, inspections, shutdowns, restarts, and incident response activities.
- Coordinate with internal teams and vendors to support routine maintenance, emergency repairs, small projects, lab moves, space reconfigurations, and event setup or teardown.
- Maintain accurate documentation, support audit readiness and safety compliance, and assist with lab waste removal, eyewash and fire extinguisher checks, and other facility service needs.
Required:
- High school diploma, GED, or trade school graduate.
- Minimum 2–5 years of similar facility maintenance experience.
- Demonstrated organizational skills for day-to-day maintenance operations and ability to manage vendors onsite.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills, with basic proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
- Ability to analyze the operation of systems, determine causes of malfunctions, and take corrective action as required.
- Ability to stand, sit, walk, bend, kneel, squat, reach, work in confined spaces, lift up to 50 pounds, and work with PPE in controlled environmental conditions.
- Must maintain a current driver’s license and be able to pass a background check and drug screening required for life sciences facility access.
