Job Title: Scientist
Location: Thousand Oaks, California (On-Site)
Job Summary: We are representing a company seeking a skilled scientist to support protein characterization and analytical research across early discovery through later-stage molecule optimization. This position plays an important role in generating high-quality mass spectrometry data that helps inform project teams and advance scientific programs.
Responsibilities:
- Conduct protein, peptide, and glycan analysis and characterization using mass spectrometry techniques, including RPLC-MS, RPLC-MS/MS, native-MS, and related analytical methods.
- Perform auto-digestion and peptide mapping to support protein characterization and sequence analysis.
- Generate, process, and interpret mass spectrometry data sets, then prepare reports to communicate results to project teams.
- Support scientific and technical work across discovery research, molecule optimization, and late-stage selection activities.
Required:
- Doctorate degree, or Master’s degree with 2 years of biopharmaceutical Analytical Chemistry, Biochemistry, or equivalent experience, or Bachelor’s degree with 4 years of biopharmaceutical Analytical Chemistry, Biochemistry, or equivalent experience.
- Experience using analytical characterization techniques such as RPLC-MS for intact protein, reduced and subunit protein mass analysis.
- Experience with protein digestion and RPLC-MS/MS to map protein sequence and characterize post translational modifications such as deamidation, isomerization, and oxidation, with associated data processing.
- Experience generating, processing, and using large LC-MS analytical data sets, along with strong verbal and written communication skills.
