Job Title: Scientist III (R&D)
Location: Cambridge, Massachusetts (On-Site)
Job Summary:
- We are supporting a search for a Scientist III (R&D) to join a purification development team focused on advancing oligonucleotide and peptide processes. Our team is seeking a motivated scientist who can contribute to process development, characterization, scale-up, and technology transfer while helping improve purity, robustness, and productivity.
Responsibilities:
- Develop and characterize purification processes for oligonucleotide and peptide therapies across chromatography, detritylation, and UF/DF unit operations.
- Investigate new purification technologies to improve purity, robustness, and productivity of existing platform processes.
- Collaborate cross-functionally, support tech transfer activities, review documentation, and assist with on-the-manufacturing floor troubleshooting.
- Document laboratory work, contribute to development reports, support pilot scale activities, and participate in regulatory writing for IND submissions.
Required:
- Experience in purification of proteins, peptides, and/or DNA/RNA using column chromatography, such as ion exchange, hydrophobic interaction, and/or reversed phase, plus UF/DF.
- Hands-on experience analyzing proteins, peptides, or DNA/RNA using HPLC and UV/Vis spectroscopy.
- Demonstrated ability to plan and execute projects and experiments, with excellent verbal and written communication, organizational, and time management skills; experience with AKTA purification systems, Unicorn software, statistical design of experiments, and statistical analysis is a plus.
Required Qualifications:
- Experience in process development and laboratory equipment, particularly AKTA systems.
- Strong protein purification background, including:
- Ion exchange chromatography
- Chromatography techniques
- AKTA operation
- HPLC (Reverse Phase Chromatography experience preferred)
- UFDF experience is a plus.
- Experience with protein-based molecules.
- Mass spectrometry, spectrometry, and statistical design experience are considered nice-to-have skills.

Education & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree with 4+ years of relevant experience, or
- Master’s degree with 2+ years of relevant experience.
- Degrees in Chemical Engineering, Biotechnology, or related scientific disciplines.
