Overview

We are seeking an Assistant Project Manager to support the execution of commercial construction projects across the Orlando market. This individual will work closely with Project Managers and field teams to help drive projects from preconstruction through closeout, with a strong focus on coordination, documentation, and maintaining project momentum.

This role is ideal for someone coming from a Project Engineer or Field Engineer background looking to grow into a Project Manager position.


Key Responsibilities

  • Support Project Manager in managing all phases of construction projects from preconstruction through closeout

  • Assist with subcontractor buyout, scope review, and contract administration

  • Manage and track RFIs, submittals, and change orders to keep projects moving on schedule

  • Review drawings and specifications to identify discrepancies, scope gaps, and constructability issues

  • Coordinate with subcontractors, vendors, architects, and engineers to ensure alignment and timely execution

  • Assist with project scheduling, cost tracking, and budget management

  • Support preparation of pay applications, billing, and financial reporting

  • Maintain project documentation and logs using Procore or similar construction management software

  • Attend project meetings and assist in driving communication between field and office teams

  • Work closely with Superintendents to ensure field execution aligns with project plans


What They’re Really Looking For (Core Competencies)

  • Hands-on experience with RFIs, submittals, and change orders

  • Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specs confidently (blue prints)

  • Exposure to commercial construction projects (ground-up or renovations)

  • Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple moving pieces

  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment

  • Someone who is proactive, detail-oriented, and wants to grow into a PM role


Qualifications

  • 2–6 years of experience in construction (Project Engineer, Field Engineer, or APM)

  • Experience supporting commercial construction projects (healthcare, office, retail, etc.)

  • Familiarity with Procore (preferred) or similar project management tools

  • Strong communication skills with ability to work across field and office teams

  • Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field preferred
