Job Title: Associate Scientist
Location: Thousand Oaks, California (On-Site)
Job Summary: We are seeking an Associate Scientist to support microanalytical forensic investigations within a fast-paced process development environment. Our team is looking for someone who can generate, analyze, and document scientific data with strong attention to quality, compliance, and collaboration.
Responsibilities:
- Apply spectroscopic, microscopic, wet chemistry, and sample-handling techniques to characterize unexpected organic, inorganic, and biological materials.
- Generate, organize, analyze, and interpret analytical data with minimal supervision to support root cause investigations.
- Document experiments, data, interpretations, and conclusions with rigor aligned to GDocP and cGMP expectations.
- Communicate technical findings clearly through scientific discussions, laboratory notebook records, presentations, and team collaboration.
Required:
- Master’s degree, or a Bachelor’s degree with 2 years of experience; alternatively, an Associate’s degree with 4 years of experience or a high school diploma/GED with 6 years of experience.
- Hands-on experience with analytical instrumentation, including vibrational spectroscopies such as Fourier-Transform Infrared and Raman spectroscopies.
- Hands-on experience with optical and electron microscopies.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, along with demonstrated experience in a scientific discipline such as Analytical Chemistry, Materials Science, or a related field.
- Strong understanding of wet chemistry and sample handling, plus a commitment to Good Documentation Practices and current Good Manufacturing Practices.
- Experience in an investigational laboratory setting within a pharmaceutical or biotechnology company is preferred.
