Responsibilities:
- Conduct CDI assessments and reviews to identify documentation gaps and opportunities for improvement
- Educate healthcare providers on proper documentation practices to support accurate coding and billing
- Analyze medical records to ensure completeness, accuracy, and specificity of documentation
- Collaborate with coding and billing teams to resolve documentation discrepancies and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements
Top Technical Skills:
- Proficiency in medical coding systems, such as ICD-10-CM, CPT, and HCPCS
- Familiarity with Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems and documentation tools
- Strong understanding of clinical terminology, disease processes, and treatment modalities
- Knowledge of coding guidelines, regulations, and compliance standards
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively engage with healthcare professionals
Experience and Education:
- Certified Coding Specialist (CCS) – Inpatient (IP) certification
- Certified Coding Documentation Specialist (CCDS) certification
- 5-10 years of experience in nursing or a related clinical field
- Bachelor’s degree in Nursing or a healthcare-related field (preferred)
- Experience working in a healthcare setting with a focus on clinical documentation improvement
