Job Title: Operating Engineer
Location: Des Moines, Iowa (On-Site)
Job Summary: We are seeking a skilled professional to support the operation, inspection, and maintenance of mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems across assigned facilities. This position plays an important part in keeping building equipment running smoothly, supporting occupant comfort, and helping maintain safe and efficient operations.
Responsibilities:
- Perform preventive maintenance and respond to repair work orders for mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and other installed building systems and equipment.
- Conduct facility inspections and due diligence efforts, documenting conditions that may affect client occupancy and operations.
- Clean HVAC coils, change filters and belts, troubleshoot issues, and repair building HVAC systems to maintain performance.
- Replace lighting, ballasts, and other fixtures, assist with maintenance of building equipment, and update work order status in CMMS systems such as Corrigo.
Required:
- High school diploma or equivalent with technical training in building maintenance, HVAC, electrical, or plumbing systems.
- Minimum 5+ years of hands-on experience maintaining and repairing commercial building mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems.
- Strong working knowledge of HVAC systems, including troubleshooting, repair, and preventive maintenance.
- Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, blueprints, and equipment specifications.
- Experience using computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS) such as Corrigo.
- Physical ability to lift up to 80 lbs, work from heights up to 30 feet, climb ladders while carrying tools, and work in extreme temperature conditions.
- Valid driver's license and commitment to practicing defensive driving at all times.
