Job Title: Operating Engineer
Location: Eagan, Minnesota (On-Site)
Job Summary: We are seeking an Operating Engineer to support the reliable operation of critical building systems in a high-availability environment. This position plays an essential role in maintaining uptime, responding to incidents, and helping ensure that complex infrastructure continues to perform safely and efficiently.
Responsibilities:
- Operate and maintain critical building systems, including fire/life safety, HVAC, chillers, CRAC/CRAH units, plumbing, controls, UPS systems, generators, switchgear, power distribution, and transformers.
- Monitor equipment performance, record readings, identify issues, and take prompt corrective action to support continuous operations.
- Manage work orders through CMMS, coordinate with vendors, and respond professionally to customer-facing tickets.
- Follow emergency escalation procedures, support site emergencies, and maintain safe, clean, and compliant work practices.
Required:
- High school diploma or GED equivalent.
- At least 2 years of hands-on experience in a data center or critical facility environment.
- Demonstrated experience with mission-critical building systems, including UPS systems, emergency generators, switchgear, and power distribution equipment.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, along with working knowledge of MS Office, Google Suite, and CMMS.
- Physical ability to lift a minimum of 50 lbs, climb ladders up to 30 feet, work at heights, and navigate rooftops.
- Flexibility to work different schedules, including holidays, and respond to site emergencies as needed.
