Job Title: Senior Java Developer
Location: Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania (On-Site)
Job Summary: We are supporting a contract opportunity for a Senior Java Developer contributing to regulatory reporting initiatives within a collaborative Agile team. Our client is looking for a hands-on backend engineer who can help design, build, and support scalable services and APIs in a fully in-office environment.
Responsibilities:
- Design and develop scalable backend services using Java and Spring-based frameworks.
- Build and support RESTful APIs with strong attention to validation, versioning, JSON handling, and documentation.
- Work with SQL and relational databases to create, optimize, and maintain data-driven application functionality.
- Collaborate with an Agile engineering team and contribute to delivery across source control, build, and CI/CD workflows.
Required:
- 5+ years of hands-on Java development experience, including Java 8+.
- Strong proficiency in Java, including OOP, design patterns such as Factory, Singleton, and DAO, exception handling, multithreading, and collections.
- Hands-on experience with Spring Boot / Spring MVC, Spring Framework (Core, Boot, MVC), RESTful API design best practices, JSON serialization/deserialization, and API testing tools such as Postman or REST Assured.
- Strong hands-on SQL experience, with relational database experience in Oracle or Teradata, plus ORM frameworks such as Hibernate / JPA.
- Experience with Maven / Gradle, Git/Bitbucket, CI/CD tools such as Jenkins, GitHub Actions, Azure DevOps, or udeploy, and basic Linux/Unix knowledge.
- Bachelor’s degree required; ability to work on-site in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania; open to conversion to full-time employment; and no visa sponsorship if hired.
