Job Title: Senior Renewable HV Engineer
Location: Phoenix, AZ
Duration: 6 Months
Job Description:
- Lead technical specifications development for large EPC (Engineering, Procurement, and Construction) projects, including development of project scope, schedule, and estimates
- Assist Project Managers in bid evaluation and project planning
- Lead design team from conceptual phase through completion and act as an Engineer-of-Record for large complex substation and gen-tie projects
- Lead the preparation technical proposal including scope, schedule, and budget
- Act as a technical liaison with clients, contractors, and vendors
- Provide engineering support during construction including field inspections and witness tests
- Provide training and mentorship to junior and intermediate engineers
- Grow and manage relationships with clients
- Mentor less experienced staff in substation project execution
- Perform and direct others in the detailed design of medium to extra high voltage utility substations including one-line diagrams, elementary and wiring diagrams, SCADA, communications, conduit and cable sizing/routing, substation physical layouts, selection of substation equipment, writing of substation equipment specifications, proposal development, construction cost estimates, and project scheduling
- Perform QA/QC for deliverables to clients across multiple offices
- Manage all schedule, budget, and quality of assigned projects
- Providing support for our clients during construction
- Performing field inspections and compliance documentation
- Leading a team of single- or multi-discipline professionals to ensure project success
- Coordinate with utilities and regulators for the interconnection process
- Corresponding and/or meeting with clients, contractors, and vendors
- Advancing into leadership roles
- Support business development and marketing initiatives
Education and Experience (Required):
- Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering or related degree from an ABET accredited program
- Or Bachelor of Science in Electrical or related Engineering Technology from an ABET accredited program and successful completion of Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam
- Master of Science degree in Electrical Engineering a plus
- 7 years electrical engineering experience. EPC project experience preferred
- Professional Engineering License (PE) preferred
- Strong knowledge in standard engineering techniques and procedures
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work methodically and analytically in a quantitative problem-solving environment and demonstrated critical thinking skills
- Proficient in standard engineering techniques and procedures
- Strong computer skills (e.g. Microsoft Office Suite) and other electrical analysis programs
- Working knowledge of computer software such as AutoCAD, MicroStation, 2D and 3D rendering program
- Strong attention to detail, facilitation, team building, collaboration, organization and problem-solving skills
- Ability to perform quality reviews for detailed engineering documents and specifications
