Job Title: Senior Renewable HV Engineer

Job Description:

  • Lead technical specifications development for large EPC (Engineering, Procurement, and Construction) projects, including development of project scope, schedule, and estimates
  • Assist Project Managers in bid evaluation and project planning
  • Lead design team from conceptual phase through completion and act as an Engineer-of-Record for large complex substation and gen-tie projects
  • Lead the preparation technical proposal including scope, schedule, and budget
  • Act as a technical liaison with clients, contractors, and vendors
  • Provide engineering support during construction including field inspections and witness tests
  • Provide training and mentorship to junior and intermediate engineers
  • Grow and manage relationships with clients
  • Mentor less experienced staff in substation project execution
  • Perform and direct others in the detailed design of medium to extra high voltage utility substations including one-line diagrams, elementary and wiring diagrams, SCADA, communications, conduit and cable sizing/routing, substation physical layouts, selection of substation equipment, writing of substation equipment specifications, proposal development, construction cost estimates, and project scheduling
  • Perform QA/QC for deliverables to clients across multiple offices
  • Manage all schedule, budget, and quality of assigned projects
  • Providing support for our clients during construction
  • Performing field inspections and compliance documentation
  • Leading a team of single- or multi-discipline professionals to ensure project success
  • Coordinate with utilities and regulators for the interconnection process
  • Corresponding and/or meeting with clients, contractors, and vendors
  • Advancing into leadership roles
  • Support business development and marketing initiatives

 
Education and Experience (Required):

  • Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering or related degree from an ABET accredited program
  • Or Bachelor of Science in Electrical or related Engineering Technology from an ABET accredited program and successful completion of Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam
  • Master of Science degree in Electrical Engineering a plus
  • 7 years electrical engineering experience. EPC project experience preferred
  • Professional Engineering License (PE) preferred
  • Strong knowledge in standard engineering techniques and procedures
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work methodically and analytically in a quantitative problem-solving environment and demonstrated critical thinking skills
  • Proficient in standard engineering techniques and procedures
  • Strong computer skills (e.g. Microsoft Office Suite) and other electrical analysis programs
  • Working knowledge of computer software such as AutoCAD, MicroStation, 2D and 3D rendering program
  • Strong attention to detail, facilitation, team building, collaboration, organization and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to perform quality reviews for detailed engineering documents and specifications
